Propecia is a pill purposed to treat male pattern hair loss on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head). There is not sufficient proofs that Propecia works for receding hairlines at the temples. Propecia should be used only by MEN and should NOT be used by women or children.
How Taken
Propecia is produced in tablets. The usual dose is once a day. It can be combined with food or taken alone. You should take Propecia the way it is prescribed. You must not take larger or smaller doses or use it more frequently than directed. Do not stop taking it even you might feel better. If you want to discontinue treatment, consult first with your doctor.
Warnings/Precautions
Before starting any treatment with Propecia, let your physician know if you have ever had or have liver disease. In this case your condition may not be suitable for Propecia or you may need to take lower doses or special medical monitoring during treatment. Propecia is suitable ony for men. You should not take this medication if you are pregnant or are could become pregnant during treatment. Propecia is in the FDA pregnancy category X. It is known to lead to birth defects in an unborn baby. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant must not get in touch with crushed or broken Propecia tablets. This drug can be absorbed through the skin. Propecia is known to be harmful for a developing male baby. As long as Propecia tablets are whole, they can not cause any harm, unless swallowed, however it is better to avoid any contact if pregnant. There is not any information whether Propecia passes into breast milk. It is not intended for women use. Do not take this medication if you are breast-feeding a baby
Missed Dose
If you forget to take a dose, just take it as soon as you remember. If it is too close to the next dose, leave the missed one and follow your normal dose schedule. Do not take two doses at a time in order.
Possible Side Effects
You should stop taking Propecia and find instant medical help if you have any of the following symptoms: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives).
Other, less serious side effects have been reported but usually resolve with continued treatment. Continue to take Propecia and notify your doctor if you experience:
-decreased libido (sex drive);
-decreased volume of ejaculation;
-impotence (trouble getting or keeping an erection); or
-breast tenderness or enlargement.
There may occur other different than the mentioned side effects. Alarm your physician about any unusual conditions that you may experience.
Storage
Keep Propecia at room normal temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly closed container, prevented from moisture.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention.. Overdose symptoms of a Propecian are unknown.
